Aboard the MSC Euribia in Dubai

My friend Sue and I boarded the ship for a seven day cruise around the Emirates. When we return from the cruise we will spend a couple of days in Dubai before heading to Oman.

The ship is quite a shock after my last two cruises. It is VERY large–6,000+ passengers. Not my preferred way to travel, but I liked the itinerary.

The passengers are from all over the globe. Lots of Chinese, Russians, Europeans. There aren’t many Americans. When announcements are made, they are repeated six times: English, French, Spanish, Russian, German, and Italian. I’m not sure what the Chinese do. There are also lots of children. Perhaps it is spring break in Europe. Fortunately, there are lots of special area for kids.

In the center of the ship, filling two decks is a mall full of restaurants, bars and shops. A bit over the top for my taste, but we’ve located a couple of quiet adult only bars. That’s where I’m sitting now, sipping a mojito and looking at Dubai’s skyline.

Tomorrow we will be in Doha, somewhere new for me.
