Alesund, Norway

When the ship docked in Alesund, Norway this morning it was raining. The forecast was, however, promising–rain to end at 11:30. I decided to wait for it to clear.

Magically, the forecast was correct. When I disembarked to walk around the city the rain had stopped. That lasted about 45 minutes and I even got a glimpse of blue sky.

Alesund is known for Art Deco architecture. It’s a well deserved reputation. There is also a charming canal, lots of statuary and interesting looking shops. Being Sunday, the shops were closed. No matter, I loved walking around the town.

It drizzled off and on, making those minutes of semi-sun more precious.

When I needed a break I stopped for lunch at a Thai restaurant. Delicious and expensive Tom Ka Gai (lemongrass and chicken soup).

The sky is now beginning to darken–sunset is at 3:05. Time to return to the ship.
