Yes, I am traveling yet again. For the next two weeks I’ll be in Ireland. It’s a country I’ve been to several times, but on this trip I’ll be exploring areas that are new to me.
The impetus for this trip is a conference, TBex, designed for travel content creators. That is, bloggers, writers, vloggers (video bloggers), and anyone else who gets the word out about travel. The conference is being held in Letterkenny in the Donegal region of Ireland. It’s in the extreme northwest corner, close to Northern Ireland. After the conference, I’ll be heading to Northern Ireland, where I’ve never been. Using Belfast as a base, I plan to explore what has been described as stunning scenery. Plus, of course, there is a lot of history.
I arrived in Dublin early this morning. After a long layover, I boarded a prop plane for Donegal. I hadn’t been on a prop in many, many years. It was great flying at a low altitude and seeing the shoreline below the clouds.
Arriving in Donegal, I joined a group of the conference organizers in a van to Letterkenny, where the conference is being held. The drive was about an hour through a landscape that surprised me, including an extinct volcano. The land is very green (expected) and hilly (unexpected). It’s a lush growing area, as well as home to a lot of sheep and cows.
After no sleep last night, this is about as much of a post as I can manage.
